A Little Mermaid Birthday

When Lily said she wanted an "Ariel" party, I didn't really know where that idea came from, but it stuck and after cruising around the internet, I found (too many) great ideas!

Some of the deco:

I used  light teal, dark teal and lavender balloons and streamers with bright red flower accents around the house:

The basement became "Under the Sea" complete with cutouts all over the walls, blue and irridescent ribbon hanging from the ceiling and lots of clear balloons all over the floor like bubbles.  (Sorry - no good pictures!)

The favors were small fish bowls that I mod podged Ariel cutouts onto and filled with gummy fishes and sharks:

And the cake that I actually made myself:

This was the first party we had friends come to, so our little neighbor friends, Katie Kate and Josie got to come over!

We played pin the flower on Ariel (I glued magnets to the back of these flowers and they got to take them home with them...)

The kids got to string fishie beads onto necklaces - actually I had no idea what a hit this would be - three year olds LOVE doing this!

We went outside and had crab races:

Then we taped garbage bags around their legs like mermaids and raced some more!

We came back inside and made salt-dough sand castles that they got to decorate with real sea shells:

Then back outside to play "Soak the Chef" with little Sebastian the Crab water balloons (my personal favorite of the day)!

Happy birthday my little princess!
