The "General"

For Sarah's final project for her Master's of Social Work degree, she had to organize an event. With a few strings pulled by Dear Old Dad, she put together a really neat evening. She got Mark Shurtleff, our state Attorney General to come to the junior high where she has been practicum-ing all year to talk about depression and suicide.

Yeah, not the most uplifting of topics, but truly a wonderful evening. He has a daughter that has suffered from severe depression and talked so candidly and personally about what she has gone through and what they as a family have been through.

Despite torrential rain storms that day, there were actually about 75 or more people there (pretty impressive for an evening event about DEPRESSION). I'm so glad I was able to go and support Sarah. She did a fantastic job, and really opened my mind about depression, as I'm sure this evening did with so many others.
