I keep waiting to write about this weekend until I scan in some pictures of Jodi and Hillary, but since that's realistically not going to happen, I decided this will have to do...
The three of us all served our missions in Ireland. Jodi first served with Hillary, then came out to Galway where she served with me. A few months later, I moved to Limerick and after that, Hillary came to Limerick and we were companions there.
One of the few pleasures you get to experience as a missionary in Ireland (since there isn't a whole lot of teaching and baptizing out there) is the CHOCOLATE! Jodi found Chomp bars and brought them along as a surprise for us to enjoy. Aaahhhh, the memories that came back! The flat we lived in in Galway was right next door to a little shop. We would stack up our 10p (like 10 cents) and every day (ok, sometimes twice or three times a day) we would hop into the shop and buy a Chomp bar!
But, I digress...
My weekend with these girls was WONDERFUL! Actually it was really only about 24 hours, but it was exactly, perfectly what I needed. We left Friday evening, and after a tour of Hilly's house that she's building (incredible!), and stop at Walmart, we made it to Hilly's family's cabin up past Evanston. It was amazing! I'm bummed I didn't pull my camera out, but take my word for it - it was beautiful. It was surrounded by aspens. Hilly said they frequently get moose wandering through. The house was so comfortable and utterly relaxing.
We had no agenda - we just sat around and visited and read and took breaks to eat, visited some more, read some more, more breaks to eat... You get the idea!
I did learn a few things while we were there:
- my husband isn't the only one (we'll leave it at that!)
- even when we're away from kids, we can't help but talk about them
- there's nothing like an uninterrupted night's sleep
- I need to read more! Especially the classics - Jodi was reading Anna Karenina and Hilly was reading Wuthering Heights... I feel so uneducated!
- friends like these are true life-long friends
I love you girls! Thanks for the perfect get-away. Like I said, I already can't wait for the next one!

I am so glad you got to go! Congratulations on making it happen!
I told Hilly that 24 hours was not enough--I think I needed 48!! And yes--your husband is not the only one.
My husband serviced in Ireland, too!
I love "what you learned" from your girls weekend. It is so true!
